Tektronix MDO3000 Mixed Domain Oscilloscope introduction

What is mixed domain oscilloscope?

As we all know, traditional oscilloscope can grasp the waveform data, show it on screen or do some math calculations between channels. At first, oscilloscopes could only deal with an analogue signal, but can now deal with a digital signal due to computer technology speeding development. Currently oscilloscope can also analyze and debug protocols with pre-installed apps.  All those functions work on time domain.

Tektronix mixed domain oscilloscope offers both time domain and frequency domain, because the only one box includes oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer, even an optional function generator. Now we can image how to utilize the amazing equipment!

In serial technologies, MDO3000 series mixed domain oscilloscope support MIL-STD-1553, I2S,LJ,RJ,TDM,CAN,LIN,RS-232/422/485/UART,I2C,SPI,FlexRay and USB protocol(LS,FS).

MDO3000 series mixed domain oscilloscope are very popular in automotive, embed serial technology, EMI troubleshooting, RF test, power measurement, signal integrity etc. applications.

Features Benefits:

Mixed Domain Oscilloscope – integrated spectrum analyze:

Every model comes standard with an integrated spectrum analyzer, enabling you to analyze RF signals up to the rated bandwidth of the scope. Option MDO3SA extends the spectrum analyzer frequency coverage to 3 GHz.

Wave Inspector®Navigation

Dedicated front panel controls enable easy zoom and navigation through 10 Mpoint records. Automated search capability quickly finds and marks every occurrence of user specified events.

Integrated, upgradable arbitrary / function generator

The function generator saves bench space and enables closed loop testing by simulating sensors or unfinished system blocks. Capture real signals and replicate them as arbitrary waveforms up to 128k points long, with a single instrument.

Integrated, upgradable logic analyzer

Enables debug of digital portions of embedded designs. Trace system timing issues with broader system visibility.

Serial and parallel bus triggering and analysis

Quickly debug your parallel bus and/or common serial buses with automated trigger, decode and search.

Integrated digital voltmeter and frequency counter

Free with product registration! Enables quick measurements of DC voltage, AC+DC RMS, AC RMS and frequency

Incredibly small form factor

Saves valuable bench space by integrating a spectrum analyzer, arbitrary function generator, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer and DVM/counter into your debug tool of choice – the oscilloscope. Only 5.8 inches deep and 9 lbs yet it still provides a 9” WVGA display.

Upgradeability

Don’t know what you’ll be working on next year? Upgrades are available to analog bandwidth, spectrum analyzer frequency range, arbitrary function generator, digital channels (MSO), serial trigger and analysis packages, and more – ensuring usefulness for years to come.

What is the required TDS level for shrimp ponds?
06/12/2026 14:26:27

What is the ideal TDS level for a shrimp tank? Many people spend a lot of time monitoring pH, temperature, and filtration systems but overlook TDS. Only when shrimp grow slowly, their colors fade, they have difficulty molting, or die off sporadically do they start checking their water source and discover that this indicator has long been out of the right range

Signs that the electrodes in your TDS meter are degraded and need replacing
06/12/2026 11:43:51

TDS meters can operate reliably for many years, but the electrodes are the most subject to wear and tear. Each time a measurement is taken, the sensor surface comes into direct contact with water, dissolved minerals, and various other chemical components. This continuous process means the electrode's responsiveness gradually decreases over time.

Can metal detectors locate underground pipes and cables?
06/10/2026 19:17:37

Metal detectors operate on the principle of passive electromagnetic induction and can only detect isolated metal objects such as gold, copper, and iron. These devices cannot trace utility paths because they cannot differentiate the direction or depth of long, buried continuous pipes. For insulated electrical cables or plastic pipes, metal detectors are completely ineffective as there is no AC current to generate a magnetic field. Furthermore, the detection depth of standard consumer metal detectors is typically limited to 1 - 2 meters for small objects, whereas underground utility lines are often buried 3 - 5 meters deep or even more.
