The brand is operated by Clarios, a global leader in advanced low-voltage battery technologies, employing around 18,000 people across more than 100 countries. Clarios has also built one of the world’s most successful circular economy models for lead–acid batteries.

In the start-stop vehicle segment, it is estimated that 7 out of 10 cars are equipped with VARTA batteries. With innovations like PowerFrame grid technology, AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) and EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery), VARTA ensures durability, fuel efficiency, and reliable performance for modern vehicles with increasing electrical demands. For electric and hybrid cars, VARTA 12V batteries continue to support crucial safety and comfort systems.

On the environmental side, Clarios’ collection and recycling system enables 100% of lead-based automotive batteries in Europe to be reclaimed and reused. Production processes save about 25% energy and 35% water, while AGM batteries reduce CO₂ emissions by about 8% in fuel-saving applications. VARTA’s environmental management is ISO 14001 certified.
